My wife and I joined a church that quite correctly believes God's Word must be adhered to and followed wherever possible. However according to 1 Cor 14:34: “Women must remain silent in church." I listen daily to Joyce Meyer and have a dilemma about what to do. God's anointing is upon women like her and I am confused.

Meditate on the fact that the Lord said He would pour out His Spirit in the Last Days on men AND women, resulting in them prophesying (public ministry) under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. (Joel 2:28,29 quoted in Acts 2:17,18). Let those who want to silence the women argue with the Lord!

Read 1 Corinthians carefully, noting that Paul is answering their questions. In chapter 7:1 he records their statement that “it is good for a man not to touch a woman” – and then writes an entire section (chapter 7) refuting it. 1 Corinthians 14 follows the same pattern. The entire chapter emphasises the ministry of those “who come together as a church” (v18), encouraging everyone to participate. The ‘Law’ says women must be silent, he writes (v24,25), but he concludes forcibly that all should desire to prophesy and speak with tongues. Notice throughout his epistles that he uses the term “brethren” to include both men and women. Eg. Chap 15:1,2.

Psalm 68:11 The Lord gives the Word [of power]; the women who bear and publish [the news] are a great host. (Amplified Bible)
