Can we really directly address satan and command him to do our bidding?

It is a very dangerous thing to communicate with satan. Eve learned that to her (and our) cost. “But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse satan of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you.” Jude 1: 9-10.
We are told to submit to God and to resist the devil, which will cause him to flee from us. (James 4:7). There are times when the Lord leads believers to “cast out demons” by the power of the Holy Spirit and to stop demonic activity in its tracks, but this must only be done under the direction and anointing of the Holy Spirit - never in our own human strength or wisdom.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are the tools of our trade (1 Cor 12), but we must never forget that the Holy Spirit is the One who operates them through our lives. Our source of provision is always the Lord.
