Dear friend,

“For Christ did not send me to baptise, but to preach the Gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1 v 17 – 18

In the above passage, Paul describes the message of the cross of Christ as being the power of God. In Romans 1 v 16, he expresses the same concept with slightly different wording: "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes". Now, what is this Gospel, what is this message of the cross? Well, it is none other than the word of God concerning His Son, the testimony of Christ Himself, the lifting on high of the name of Jesus. Such carries great power! Continue to 2 Corinthians 2 and we see a stunning connection between the preaching of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. "For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." What is Paul saying here? Quite simply this. When Paul witnessed, he spoke of Jesus; when Paul prayed, he did so in the name of Jesus; when Paul praised, he glorified Him. Let us now read what he wrote in verses 4 and 5: "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."

Here we see the result of lifting up the name of Jesus: the Holy Spirit got to work! The Holy Spirit reacts to the speaking of His name, whether such be in witness, praise or prayer. He immediately begins to act, the name of Jesus being a mighty vehicle the Spirit rides to get the job done. Lift Him on high, dear friend! His name is matchless, exceedingly precious, magnificently powerful, awesomely holy. When His name and His Spirit connect, chains are broken, darkness flees and miracles manifest.

Yours in His service,
Tamryn Klintworth

The name of Jesus brings life, healing and deliverance. This precious truth, matchless in its potency, was experienced in full force by 64-year-old Xoliswa Mtyongwe at our MDANTSANE Gospel Crusade.  Having heard of the upcoming meetings from her pastor, this precious grandmother of four was excited to attend. Tormented by severe pains in her body for the past decade, Xoliswa had suffered through countless doctor’s appointments and surgeries.  She had grown weary, her hope rapidly dwindling. “For ten years I have been in pain. Not even the doctors could help me,” she commented. During the healing prayer, Xoliswa received a mighty touch from Heaven. “My body is healed, I have no more pain!” she exclaimed. Jumping up and down on stage as she shared her testimony, she explained how even her pastors and neighbours knew of her agony. It was all she spoke of. “I struggled to wear shoes, I could not do anything for myself. I missed many church services and funerals and could do nothing but lie in bed. Now, I am so excited because I will not struggle anymore. I am well. I am free – really free!”
