“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendents, and My blessing on your offspring” – Isaiah 44:3

Throughout the prophets, there is an ever-present correlation between drought and abundance, river and desert. In the preceding chapter of Isaiah, we read of God giving “waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (v 20).

In Isaiah 53, the famous messianic chapter, we read of Jesus Himself being compared to “a tender plant” shooting up from “dry ground” (v 2). In a world where evil and demonic forces wreak havoc among the nations, these promises fill the heart of the believer with hope. Where there is nothing, God is able to bring about bountiful blessing. Where there is death and destruction, our Jesus is able to restore life and rectify order. In His presence, the wilderness springs forth a river and the driest of places yield a profusion of good things. How is this possible? By His Spirit! In the verse quoted above, God emphasises the link between Him pouring out His Spirit and floods quenching the barren wasteland.

Every miracle is a result of Holy Spirit activity. Are you in a dry place today? Perhaps you have tried through human wisdom and strength to rectify but all such has failed you. Today, surrender yourself to His Spirit! Yield yourself to His guiding hand and comforting touch. Trust in Him. He will cause the river to flow.

Yours in His service,

Losing both her parents not only caused single-mother Ntshidiseng (28) to lose hope in herself, but also in life. Having heard about our EVATON Gospel Crusade from a neighbour, she decided to attend, the sounds of prayer and music drawing her towards the open field on which the meetings were being held.
For the past four years, Ntshidiseng had suffered from extreme depression and anxiety. Recently, the darkness threatened to overwhelm entirely, this beautiful young woman on the verge of suicide. “I felt useless in the world and had decided to end my own life,” she expressed. “The evangelist preached that Jesus could set me free. So, when the altar call was made, I went forward to accept Him as Lord and Saviour. During the prayer, I felt every stress and worry leaving my body!”

In that one single moment, on the wings of a simple prayer, Ntshidiseng’s life was forever changed. Filled with joy, she could not stop praising her Jesus. “I feel so relieved, so stress free,” she shared. “I now have hope and faith in Jesus Christ, He is so great and so loving. I want to go to church every Sunday. God deserves to be worshipped.” Where there was once distress and hopelessness, there is now liberty for this young woman. In His matchless name, the captives are set free!
