When things don't seem to go my way, and my sorrows are all my own.
When I’m blind to all you see for me, inspite of what you've shown.
When I would not hear thy tender voice say; 'my child, if thou hadst
known.' Then, grant me, lord, more of thy love that seeketh not her own.

When life's beguiling pleasures allure me from your arms, to seek to
please my carnal heart and forget thy matchless charms. And when I've
come to the tearful end of my way, with a past you don't condone,
still grant me, lord, more of thy love that seeketh not her own.

Lord Jesus, I would be like thee in character and life. To have a
heart in tune with yours, free from lust and self and strife. Begin
Thy work, now, in me, lord, remove my heart of stone. Give me a heart
that loves with love that seeketh not her own.

Let me rejoice to do Thy will, Thy love to others show. Each day
behold Thy lovely face, each day Thy grace to know. That at Thy coming
I may stand at the right hand of thy throne, with all thy sheep who
have kept thy love that seeketh not her own. -hn
