Oh Lord we hear Your words of life
Your truth at hand to withstand strife
We listen yet to man’s discourse
The world pulls strong with evil force
Deceit is in their idol song
And for Your grace, our God we long.
There’s none like You my blessed Lord
Woe am I, not in You absorbed
Our thoughts create a worthless plot
With useless works of sin we mock
You stretched the Heavens, made the earth
Your power and wisdom gave it birth
Our God will cast from Israel’s land
Pathetic race of Judah’s band
In desolation, laid to waste
The remnant of this human race
Creations with our hands we’ve made
The things for which our Christ has paid
Our Lord Almighty, ever the same
Correct us by Your Holy Name
In Your anger we will be naught
Devoured in lust and worthless thought
Oh! Save us from this fruitless want
Remind us of Your covenant!
