We are so pleased to announce that we have made it from End to End! We started on 8th Aug from Lands End and arrived in John O’Groats, 23 days later, on 30 Aug. Barry hand cycled 1000 miles without any assistance whatsoever, and Julia and Timothy also did the full distance with him on their bikes. Our friend, Mike Taylor, joined us for the first two weeks – going as far as Saltcoats in Scotland. We were then joined in the last week by my brother, Ivor and his wife, Gill who brought their tandem with them on the plane.
We are so grateful for all who have sponsored the ride and so far have raised £14,000 – we are still trusting God for more funds to come in! Please consider sponsoring us if you haven’t yet! We were hosted by churches every night except one, where we stayed in a campsite with Ivor and Gill in Inverary, Scotland. We had wonderful meetings at every venue – in churches, church halls and homes, sharing about the work and vision of The Word for the World and our passion to see a Bible Translation project start in every one of the 2200 Bibleless language groups by 2025. We have returned home, with tired bodies and aching muscles, yet with great joy in our hearts due to the fond memories of the wonderful people we were privileged to meet and the blessing of raising finances and awareness for the task of bringing God’s word to all nations. Our sincere thanks to God for all who supported us in this epic journey: For Alwyn and Cheryl Bull who drove the support vehicles – for the first half and Ken and Daphne Cherry, who took over for the second half of the trip. Julia and Timothy Funnell who accompanied Barry for the entire trip. For the generous loan of the campervan, at no charge, for 2 weeks at New Wine as well as the further 3,5 weeks on the road.
For all the churches and individuals who kindly fed and accommodated us all along the route. For safety on the roads, for both cyclists and support vehicles, and for the cheerful patience of Lisa and Daniel who tagged along. For you, our partners, who have prayed, given sacrificially, and encouraged us through emails, cards, letters etc. Let us pray for hearts to be touched through this event and long term relationships to be developed for the on-going support of Bible translation projects worldwide. Psalm 19.3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. God Bless,
Barry
