Great is our Faithful God

Proverbs 20:29:  The glory of young men is their strength, and the splendour of old men is their grey hair.

The theme of this 3rd issue of the new JOY! is the elderly.  We want to celebrate and bless all our senior citizens, parents and grandparents. We have inherited so much from them and have enjoyed a beautiful world because of them, so let’s take time this month to reach out and to thank them.

Most of our ancestors were strongly influenced by the Christian worldview and we have grown up blessed because of it, but with secular humanism pervading our society today, what sort of legacy are we going to pass on?  Society’s values and morals have become so debauched and  self-centred. Political correctness supersedes Biblical correctness and the heroes of the day are blatantly anti-Christ (see page 12).  Routine and discipline are becoming foreign in many homes and in the lives of our children.  Parents are shirking their responsibilities.  The family structure is under attack from all sides. TV is the educator and babysitter in many homes. Our Government is becoming openly and unashamedly corrupt. Justice, righteousness, accountability and integrity are values seldom observed.  What inheritance are we going to pass on?

Well praise God, He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and we have the privilege of being part of His family and under His protection. 1 John 4:4 tells us: Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” So my question is – is He in you?

We can only overcome this world and all it’s evil, with Christ.  If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour or if you need assurance of your salvation then talk to God now.  Pray this prayer taken from Romans 10:9 -

“Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner who cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin and was raised from the dead and that through Him I may be forgiven and redeemed.  I ask You Lord to forgive me and save me, to come into my heart, precious Holy Spirit to live within me. I thank You Lord, in faith, for my salvation.”  Amen
