More than conquerers
We are moving into dangerous times and the recent court ruling against the Dutch Reformed Church in Moreleta Park, for dismissing a music teacher who was in an unrepentant homosexual relationship, has serious implications for religious freedom in South Africa. (See page 15) Our correspondent Errol Naidoo says, "The Church of Christ is the last hurdle to the normalisation of homosexual behaviour in society. Will the Church remain faithful to the Law of God or will it succumb to the demands of the secular state? We can’t have both." Sadly, there are also threatening emails and letters being sent to Christian organisations from the Gay and Lesbian society - this is typical behaviour of the enemy – roaming around like a roaring lion but actually without power. " He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." 1 John 4:4
This brings us to our article on repentance. ( Pg 24) The Church and Christians need to repent for being so wishy-washy with the Gospel – we all have to learn to be obedient to God’s instructions and then we won’t find ourselves in these perilous situations. We are called to be the ‘salt’ in society. Let’s seek God’s forgiveness and mercy so that we can fulfil this mandate.
Home churches are becoming a growing phenomena in our society today and we need to ask why. Perhaps it’s because folks are being hurt by Fake Fellowship and hypocrisy in the Church. (Pg 42) Read this excellent article by Jackie and together, let’s address this situation urgently so that we can build strong healthy churches.
Lastly, we bring you some very wise advice from author Sandy Mayle on How to Play Second Fiddle. We are not all called to lead and many of us need to accept this and learn how to serve our leaders. This way, we can build successful churches, businesses and organisations. There is no place for ego and pride in Christianity and we need to recognise our strengths and weakness to work and act accordingly. In many cases, the ‘second-in-command’ (2 IC) is the driving strength in an organisation.
God Bless you!
