If I have not love, I am nothing

I recently attended a Business Leadership Summit and was challenged by a lecture on the leadership model of ‘LOVE’. Most Christian CEO’s, bosses and managers will say they practise, or subscribe to, servant leadership based on love – but do we? We often hear the above Scripture quoted at weddings or engagements but let’s look at it in a business context.

I took 1 Cor 13:4 apart, word for word and was convicted in many areas. I had to repent. Often I have stopped trusting, I allow myself to get angry and frustrated, I don’t always demonstrate hope and sometimes keep a record of wrongs. As I exited my prayer closet it was with great excitement that I could announce that incompetence, inexperience, unmet commitments, and unreturned phone messages (which have become the order of the day in South Africa), would no longer irritate me, but rather be a call for me to pray and to give thanks to the Lord that I, as a Christian, have the Holy Spirit living within me and that He will bring conviction and correction so that we don’t have to become victims of this behaviour.

God wants us to be transformed into Christ’s likeness, but we cannot do this without the power of the Holy Spirit. That’s why I am so excited about this issue – it is truly anointed! Enjoy our main article Why the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? And the other short articles on the Holy Spirit. We are hoping it will transform many lives and lead to Christians being filled with Power.

This month we celebrate Mothers’ Day. We want to dedicate this issue to all the Moms who read JOY! This world would not be the same without you. We at JOY! Pray that all moms will be blessed and filled with God’s peace. Mothers have such a huge responsibility to bring up their children God’s Way in a very challenging world. Lastly, we want to congratulate the AFM / AGS churches across the country as they celebrate 100 years of existence in South Africa. May the Lord continue to bless you and work through you. Our country needs and appreciates you!

God bless, Erin
