How Great is our God

Another year almost gone.   It is with a grateful heart that I write this column and present to you, our readers, this bumper Christmas issue of JOY!

How great is our God!  Many of us have been singing these words this year and many have viewed the stunning DVD currently available with the same title.  Enjoy the article in this issue, may it result in praise to our wonderful God.

Christmas time is also a time to reach out to the poor and homeless.  These precious souls have been so rejected by society yet Jesus loves them so much, He died for them and desires that we become His hands and mouth.  We, as the body of Christ, need to pool our talents and make every effort to build or contribute to sustainable projects to bring about lasting change for them.  We need to be actively demonstrating compassion, mercy and the love of Christ.  If your church doesn’t already have an active mercy ministry then encourage them to start regular outreaches or even to support another church’s initiative in your area.  We can and must work together to make a difference.  When we help the poor, we are helping Jesus and doing His Will.  Adopt a Haven, Ark, Night shelter or Salvation Army project and make a regular difference. It is not the Government’s responsibility; it is ours, the Church of Jesus Christ.  Only we can impart the love of God.

This is also a time for us to reflect on what we, as a ministry, have accomplished this year.  God has empowered us with the Holy Spirit to do great things for Him. We have managed to become listed at most of the Spar, Pick and Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Woolworths stores across the country. It has not been without a battle but the Word of the Lord sustained and motivated us.  Why should I accept defeat when the Bible says that God always leads me in triumph? 2 Cor.1:14   I also want to take this opportunity to thank all our readers who regularly ask the managers for the magazines when they can’t find them and for moving them up on the shelves when they are hidden or placed at the bottom.  You are making a difference.  Please don’t stop.

Lastly you will be delighted to know that we are opening up our intercessory prayer ministry to all our readers.  We at JOY! would not have accomplished much if it were not for fervent, heartfelt, faith-filled prayer. We are engaged in active prayer every day and fast once a month as a team and now want to open this up to those who want to covenant with us, so that we, as the body of Christ, can become a mighty voice in unison in these perilous times. We are engaged in a war of worldviews and need to be vigilant and on our knees.  See page 9.

God bless you and your families at this special time of Christmas
