Roll up your sleeves, Church

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that we bring you this issue of JOY! The Church is the solution to assist in times of tribulation – all we need to do is unite in our efforts.
First let’s focus on our desperate neighbour Zimbabwe. The country has reached the point of total desolation and we can no longer simply pray and yet do nothing practical. “Faith without works is dead”James 2:20. The Lord has empowered us, the Holy Spirit is in us and will guide us, we must help. Every church in South Africa needs to get involved and reach out to the desolate by engaging in some sort of programme. We offer advice and ideas in our article (Page 27) and mention a ministry that we can all support. Or you could choose a ministry of your choice. It makes no difference as long as you are doing something.
“Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise” Luke3:11
Secondly we all need to unite in our efforts to change e-TV’s policy on screening pornography. Read our article on page 16. Their Executive Officer’s response to Christian Action’s objection was patronising, ignorant and pathetic. We have the mandate to be salt and light in society and the power and ability to force change.
The key is our unity and commitment. Let’s do it! We need every literate Christian to write a letter and to fax or email it to the Marketing Director of the various advertisers on e-TV, and to send a copy to e-TV. The letter must express your objection and proposal to boycott their products if e-TV doesn’t change the viewing times. Then if e-TV arrogantly continues to ignore our requests we need to exercise our threat.

We do need Pastors to assist us by informing and encouraging their members to support this action.
And lastly – August is Women’s Month - Let’s celebrate the beauty and efforts of all the women in South Africa. Our role is invaluable! We have invited some new prominent ladies to contribute in this issue and bless us with their words of wisdom. We trust you will enjoy their columns.
With love in Jesus
