I am not sure I am marrying the right person. How can I be sure? When I seek God, He seems silent...
Answer:
As in all decisions of life, the first thing is to ask God and to believe that He will keep His Word and answer. “If you need wisdom - if you want to know what God wants you to do - ask Him, and He will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect Him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:5,6
Take time to wait quietly before the Lord for an answer and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. A second principle is to allow the peace of God to be the umpire in your heart. If you have no inner peace about this relationship and there is an element of doubt, do not rush into marriage. “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.” Col 3:15a.
Thirdly, take counsel from your friends and those who know you well. “With many advisers there is safety” Prov 11:14. Compare Prov 13:10, 24:6.
