EVANGELISM IN HIS NAME
In Psalm 88, the author thereof cries out to God, “Will You work wonders for the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise you?” Little did he know that he was prophesying, prophesying of the time that Jesus would come and raise the dead back to life. Now, am I speaking of Lazarus? Am I speaking of Jairus’ daughter or the son of the window from Nain? No. I am speaking of you and me. I am speaking of each and every born-again believer. The Bible is quite clear that before we accepted Jesus as Lord, we were dead in our sins. Not paralysed. Not incapacitated. Not tainted. But, dead. With no eternal life coursing through our veins, we were dead to God, alive only to Satan and his schemes. Dear friend, the moment you surrendered to Jesus and received the gift of everlasting life, you were – for the first time since your entry into this world – truly alive. Why? Well, you were reconciled with your Creator. After all, you were never designed to exist without Him! Existing without Him is just that – existing. But, existing with Him is living and doing that, abundantly.
Yours in His service,
From 26 January – 1 February 2015, the In His Name team preached a fiery Gospel in Majosi, a rural village within the Limpopo province of South Africa. As usual, the Gospel message was followed by a floodtide of salvation, healing and deliverance. One young man’s story in particular, encompassed all these elements. Bounding onto stage one evening, Ronny was eager to share his testimony. He had not only received Jesus as Lord and Saviour, but also two further miracles. “When I came here, I could not move my right arm,” he voiced, bending and twisting that very limb. “I could not even stretch it, but now – I am healed!” Continuing with his testimony, Ronny explained how he had likewise been set free of an addiction to alcohol. The young man could not contain his joy. “I drank beer all the time,” he said, “I did not even know what cool drink tasted like. After I accepted Jesus and was prayed for yesterday, the desire completely stopped. Today, I bought myself a cool drink for the first time – it tasted so much better than beer. I want to serve Jesus with all that is within me.” Addressing the audience, he concluded by saying, “My brothers and sisters, let us all repent and see things in a different way.” Indeed, Ronny is already a soul-winner at heart, eager to preach the Jesus who set him free!
